Jewish Trauma, Resilience, and Identity: Navigating a Post 10/7 World

CE Hours 2 2 Cultural Competency

About this live event

This is a non-political course that will provide an introduction about Jews and Judaism so clinicians can gain a basic cultural competence when working with Jewish clientele. Participants will learn about the Jewish experience of intergenerational trauma, and how it is transmitted through the generations. The instructor will examine the intricate facets of antisemitism and its profound influence on individuals and communities. She will also explore the historical landscape of antisemitism, from its origins to its evolution, as she delves into its impact on mental health, highlighting the psychological toll and challenges faced by those affected. Transitioning to the realm of trauma, the course provides an in-depth understanding of trauma's definition, types, and enduring effects. This includes an understanding of Jewish Intergenerational Trauma. This will then explain Zionism and help participants understand the clinical implications of anti-Zionism. The course concludes with learning basic assessment skills to note when someone is in active trauma. The session concludes with a 10-minute Q&A, offering participants the opportunity to engage with the material, seek clarification, and contribute to a meaningful discussion. Handout Included.
