About this live event

Insomnia is a silent epidemic with cases surging during the pandemic. This course provides you will a strong foundation to better understand and diagnose insomnia. Learn various assessment tools and the impact of untreated insomnia on mental health. You will learn how to develop a toolkit of both conventional and evidence based integrative treatments. Uncover strategies to help your clients down-regulate and ground their nervous systems, fostering a peaceful sleep environment. Through a compelling case example and hands-on practice, you'll hone your clinical skills. You will leave with concrete strategies you can apply immediately with your clients. Detailed Handout included. Recording: This class will be recorded and made available within 2 hours after the live lecture. Recordings are available for 90 days after the class.

Learning Objectives

  • demonstrate an understanding of the diagnostic criteria for insomnia disorders as outlined in the fifth edition of the DSM-5, including its key features and subtypes.
  • apply a sleep assessment by utilizing key interview questions and screening questionnaires to evaluate sleep problems, sleep efficiency, and clients' relationship with sleep.
  • explain one evidence-based clinical intervention for insomnia disorders.
  • choose three techniques for managing insomnia symptoms.

    Erena DiGonis, LCSW-R is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Health Coach, and Certified Clinical Anxiety and Trauma Treatment Professional. Erena has twenty-one years of practical and professional experience as an active clinician, teacher, and supervisor. She has worked in a variety of community, psychiatric, in-home, and private practice settings with hundreds of complex cases. Erena is a sought-after writer, speaker, and consultant and has been featured in Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Psychology Today, Reader’s Digest, Women's Health, and MEL magazine.     Erena DiGonis, LCSW, PLLC, #1858, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 8/25/2023 – 8/25/2024. Social workers completing this course receive 1.5 continuing education credits.

  • National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC)

Refund/Cancellation Policy

Please note: All refund requests will be honored if they are made within 24 hours prior to the course less a $10 processing fee. There are no refunds for participants who “no show.”

ASWB ACE credit is only offered for Live, Online (synchronous distance learning) training.

ASWB ACE credit is NOT approved for self-study courses.

ASWB ACE credit is approved for the United States and Canada.*

Canadian Social Workers: Canadian provinces accept courses approved by the ASWB for ongoing professional development.

The California Board of Behavioral Sciences will accept courses approved by ASWB and NBCC, please see website:

*New Jersey regulations state the following regarding acceptable sources of continuing education for Social Workers: "Attendance at programs or courses approved by boards that license social work practice in other states: one credit for each hour of attendance." Many State Boards accept ASWB ACE credit for Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Addiction Professionals. It is the participant's responsibility to check with their individual state board to verify continuing education requirements for their state.
