Brainspotting Consultant and Senior Trainer
Dr. Melanie Young is a licensed psychologist with a private practice in Boulder, CO. She provides a warm and supportive environment for adolescents and adults, and integrates a variety of approaches to meet the needs of each individual. She aids clients in overcoming depression, mood swings, anxiety and anger. She facilitates healing from emotional, physical, and sexual trauma. She assists individuals and couples with relationships, marital and divorce issues, losses and grief. Dr. Young helps navigate the challenges around brain injuries, ADD, pain, illness, and phobias. Specialties also include working with seniors, their families and caregivers. She uses BSP as a tool to help heal trauma, increase effective coping strategies, strengthen internal resources, and enhance performance. Dr. Young is a certified Brainspotting therapist who is available for individual consultation. She also facilitates Brainspotting consultation groups for psychotherapists. Dr. Young is a national Brainspotting trainer and is vice president on the board for Rocky Mountain Brainspotting Institute. She has taken and assisted at all phases of Dr. David Grand’s trainings.

Melanie Twite is a Licensed Counselor with credentials in Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, and Texas. Holding the title of National Board-Certified Counselor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and Certified Brainspotting Practitioner and Consultant, she is also recognized as a board-approved supervisor in Idaho. Melanie completed her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy at George Fox University in 2005. Her professional journey includes diverse experiences in community mental health, service alongside a Psychologist, and adjunct instructor roles at George Fox and Northwest Nazarene Universities. In 2011, she established her private practice, Remedy Counseling, in Meridian, Idaho. Melanie's commitment to trauma-informed practice stems from insights gained directly from her clients. Recognizing the importance of being well-versed in the subject to effectively assist clients on their recovery journey, she continuously enhances her knowledge. A dedicated lifelong learner, Melanie specializes in trauma-specific topics and modalities, focusing on developmental trauma, complex trauma, and the broader implications of generational trauma. In her clinical role, she helps clients comprehend how childhood trauma impacts physical, mental, relational, occupational, and educational well-being. Engaging cutting-edge treatment modalities, Melanie actively contributes to rebooting and rewiring the brain and body for healing. As a trainer, she shares her expertise, encouraging practitioners to deepen their understanding of these concepts and enhance their competence in treating trauma survivors.

Tamara Baker is a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist who specializes in complex trauma, dissociation, and couples and family therapy. Her undergraduate studies were in child and family development, which has proven beneficial in her work with complex trauma. Tamara pursued a graduate degree in counseling psychology, leading her to acquire a license in Marriage and Family Therapy in California and Idaho. Tamara was trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing in 2015 but found Brainspotting in 2016 and has since never looked back! She began assisting in phase one and two trainings for Lisa Larson, M.A., LMFT in California in 2017 and has since assisted Dr. Melanie Young, PSY.D., Dr. David Grand, PHD and others in training hundreds of therapists to become BSP therapists. Tamara began the process of becoming a Brainspotting consultant in 2020 and over a year long intensive training course, she is now helping other therapist strengthen and enhance their understanding and application of the Brainspotting theories and set ups. Tamara integrates many modalities together to best meet her client’s where they are, including, but not limited to Art, Attachment Theory, Brainspotting, Experiential, Existential, and trauma therapies. She especially enjoys the flexibility that the Brainspotting model allows for her to encourage her clients and consultees to integrate their personal strengths and backgrounds into their Brainspotting practice. Tamara is currently practicing under Idaho Counseling and Trauma Center in Salmon, ID.
